2022 RAM 1500 Classic – Features Overview

July 28th, 2022 by

If you’re looking for a new truck to take you through 2022 and beyond, the RAM 1500 Classic is the way to go.

RAM has grown in prestige ever since it broke away from the Dodge brand way back in 2009. As the lineup and features on the trucks kept growing, the need for something a little simpler became obvious. It was a no-brainer in 2019 to take the standard RAM model and relaunch it as the 1500 Classic.

In this post, we’re going to check out some of the main features of the 2022 RAM 1500 Classic. Deciding on new vehicles can feel overwhelming, but keep reading and you’ll see that the RAM 1500 Classic is the perfect option for someone that wants a quality truck at an affordable price point.

RAM 1500 Classic Design

With loads of new vehicle options out there, sometimes it’s just best to get back to the basics. The RAM 1500 has been so successful over the years because it hasn’t changed all that much. This new Classic design is nearly the same truck that Dodge put on the road back in 2009.

There are 3 trims to choose from. The base model is the Tradesman, which gets back to the basics with plastic bumpers, handles, and front grille. The mid-range Express has body-colored bumpers and a painted grille, while the Warlock comes with a blackout grille.

All Classic models come with a bare-bones—yet spacious and comfortable—interior with lots of storage. In terms of the bed, you can choose between the 6-foot or the 8-foot option.

2022 RAM Performance

The 2022 RAM 1500 Classic lets you choose between two powertrains: 305-HP Pentastar V6 or a 5.7-liter V8 Hemi. Both have an 8-speed transmission and default rear-wheel drive, though you can choose a 4-wheel drive as an add-on.

With rear coil springs, you’ll have predictable handling and a comfortable ride on any surface. Towing capacity is around 10,000 lbs and you should be able to carry around 2,000 lbs in the bed while maintaining performance.

Safety and Fuel Economy

In terms of fuel economy, you’re going to get 17-mpg in the city and 25-mpg on the highway, with 4WD reducing that slightly. The NHTSA gave the RAM 1500 Classic a 4-star safety rating. Although there aren’t any advanced safety features included in this model, its sturdy build and high visibility make it a safe vehicle overall.

Tech Enhancements

Similarly, when it comes to infotainment and other tech enhancements, the 1500 Classic doesn’t come with anything groundbreaking out of the box. It does have a 5-inch infotainment system with Bluetooth, USB, and aux connectivity.

If you choose, you can add the Electronics Group package for around $800 USD to get an 8.5-inch screen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Sirius radio.

Don’t Overthink Your Next Truck

When it comes to quality, simplicity, and affordability, the RAM 1500 Classic can’t be beaten. The base model comes in at a meager $42,000, which is about as low as you’re going to see from a top-rated truck in 2022.
